Shoretel Communicator is software that allows you to quickly look up someone's extension and dial it. It also allows you to make a list of frequently used contacts.
Looking up an extension
Looking up an extension in Shoretel Communicator requires you to only know the name of the person whose extension you wish to find. With the Communicator application open on your desktop, towards the top of the application, find the box that says Type a name or number:
Click inside the box and the type the name of the person you are looking for. It should automatically populate its search results to help you find the closest (or perfect) match.
Similarly, if you know an extension but not the name of the person it belongs to, you can type in the extension to be given the same information.
Once the results are populated, you can click a name or extension to automatically dial it from your phone. Picking up the receiver will transfer the call from your speakers to the handset.
Adding a contact
Adding a contact is very similar to making a call or finding an extension. Just make sure you are on the "Contacts" tab at the bottom of the ShoreTel Communicator, and press the Add button.
A new window will open that will allow you to search for your desired contact:
Press OK and the contact will be added! From here, you just need to double click the contact to call them, or you can right click the name for additional options (such as sending a direct message.)
